A Full Day of Photography Ended With a Sweet Surprise

Today was one of those days where everything just flowed. I didn’t have a scheduled session or anything on the calendar, but I ended up spending the entire day doing what I love—photography.

The morning started off super productive. I sat down with my coffee, opened up my laptop, and finally finished a big project I’ve been working on behind the scenes—my new client freebies! I’ve put together three helpful guides: a locations guide, an outfit guide, and a session prep guide. These are resources I’ve wanted to offer for a while now, and I’m so excited that they’re finally ready to share. My goal is always to make your session as stress-free and fun as possible, and I really think these guides will help. Whether you're wondering what to wear, where to shoot, or how to prepare little ones (or your partner!) for a session, it’s all covered now.

After finishing those, I needed to get outside and just create. I packed up my camera and drove out to the lake. There’s something about the stillness of the water and the wide-open space that helps me reset. I wandered around, took a few photos just for fun, and let myself enjoy shooting without any expectations. From there, I drove through campus and snapped a few pictures of some buildings at K-State. The lighting was soft, the trees were blooming, and it felt like the first real day of spring.

But honestly, the best moment of the day came when I got back to my apartment.

As I was unloading my gear, I noticed a guy taking his puppy outside. The dog was tiny and full of energy, tugging at the leash and hopping around like it was the best day ever. I asked if I could take a couple of photos of them—nothing fancy, just a quick little moment. He said yes, and I snapped a few shots of them together right there in the grass. The light hit just right, and I knew I’d captured something sweet. I edited the pictures when I got inside and emailed them to him later that evening. He was so grateful, and it reminded me how simple acts of kindness—sharing a photo, pausing to capture a moment—can really make someone's day.

I didn’t book a client today. I didn’t make any money. But it might’ve been one of my favorite days in a while.

Photography isn’t just my job—it’s how I see the world, connect with people, and slow time down for just a second. Today was a reminder that the little moments matter. The quiet walks, the random golden-hour photos, the free puppy pictures. It’s all part of the bigger story.

Thanks for being part of this journey with me. If you're ever thinking about booking a session, want to see those client guides, or just want to chat—my inbox is always open. 💛
